The state government of Assam is implementing a health insurance scheme named as Atal Amrit Abhiyan in the state. Under the scheme, the government is providing an insurance coverage of up to Rs. 2 lakh per year to each family of the state. The scheme was originally launched on 25 December 2016.The scheme is named after the former Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Under this scheme, each family is given insurance coverage up to 2 lakhs per year. Atal Amrit Abhiyan Assam Scheme was initiated with the idea to offer cashless treatments to all those families under the Below Poverty Line and Low Income Households in the state of Assam. In the budget year of 2016-17 state government declared the implementation of Atal Amrit Abhiyan. Required Documents For Atal Amrit Abhiyan Assam Scheme

Enrollment at AAA Enrollment Center
The interested applicants can also physically visit the enrollment center in their areas along with the voter ID card of each family member, birth certificate of minor members of family, income certificate for APL family members and Rs. 100 pre beneficiary premium.
The verifying officer would then scrutinize all the documents to verify the eligibility of the applicant. APL candidates would be given a challan to deposit Rs. 100 per member as premium.
After the verification of documents and (payment of premium by APL families), the operator would take photograph and fingerprint of each beneficiary.

Eligibility Criteria for Atal Amrit Abhiyan
Below is the eligibility criteria for enrollment in AAA health insurance scheme
- All the BPL families in the state with income of less than Rs. 1.2 lakhs per annum will get a free health card under the scheme.
- Moreover, those who belong to APL category with income between Rs. 1.2 lakhs and 5 lakhs per annum have to pay a nominal premium of Rs. 100/- per year per member to avail the scheme.
- All the employees who are working or retired in the service of Central and State Government will not be eligible for this scheme.
- All documents of each enrollment will be checked properly whether they belongs to BPL or APL category.

- The Assam Health Insurance scheme is one of its kinds that are user friendly. For perfect implementation the state government has announced the set up of call center service 24 X 7.
- The state government has also established Help desk at various locations for effective implementations. These will be operated by qualified individuals and Arogya mitras.
- The Mitras at the arogya centers will ensure that the hospital services are provided 24 X 7 and all patients are attended on time. The arogya mitras will also act as link between hospital services and patients.
- The state government has ensured that all possible help and assistance will be offered so that the patients will recover on time. The government has also set up a grievance and 24X7 monitoring system for patients. That will be monitored by the senior and professional doctors from Government hospitals. The scheme will also be personally monitored and supervised by health department.
- In order to get full treatment benefit patients and eligible candidates can contact the hospital authorities (AAA call centers). All arrangements can easily be made by the authorities at the right time.
- The provision for traveling till hospital will also be made available. Under the scheme the beneficiary will be offered with expense for return tickets via air (Rs 30,000) in value from out state and allowance on daily basis of Rs 1000 for a time period of 10 days.
- If the patient belongs to Assam state then he is entitled for Rs 300 allowance for every visit at the hospital. The allowance can be claimed for a maximum of Rs 3000 yearly.
